This in-depth industry report from Cvent explores the priorities, challenges, and emerging trends shaping event professionals across Asia. Based on independent research conducted by Censuswide with 206 senior event planners, marketers, and decision-makers from organisations with annual revenues of USD 100 million or more, the report provides a detailed view of the event landscape in 2026.

Rather than focusing only on event volume, the report examines how organisations are balancing attendance, budget management, technology adoption, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and accessibility.

You will learn:

• How event volumes and budgets are expected to change in 2026

• Why attendance and cost containment are leading event priorities

• How data security and information protection are shaping event management

• What attendees value most when attending B2B conferences

• Why customer support and platform reliability influence event technology decisions

• How organisations are using AI for event content, logistics, reporting, and attendee experience

• Why sustainability targets and carbon footprint tracking are gaining importance

• How event organisers are improving accessibility and inclusive experiences

The report begins by examining the growth of the events industry across Asia. While event volumes and programme budgets have increased significantly since 2023, the outlook for 2026 reflects a more measured approach to investment. Event professionals continue to plan for growth across in-person, virtual, hybrid, and webinar formats, while placing greater emphasis on managing costs and achieving meaningful outcomes.

A major focus is event planning and management. Attendance emerged as the leading factor governing events, followed by brand awareness, cost containment, revenue, and attendee satisfaction. This highlights the importance of attracting participants while maintaining financial control and delivering experiences that support broader organisational objectives.

The report also explores the challenges facing event managers. Event data and information security ranked as the biggest management concern, followed by event technology challenges, securing sponsorship, and rising costs and inflation. These pressures are encouraging organisations to modernise their technology infrastructure while protecting attendee information and improving the efficiency of event operations.

Virtual events present their own challenges. Technical failures were identified as the biggest concern, alongside insufficient audience engagement, security failures, unclear objectives, and limited follow-up. The findings underline the importance of reliable platforms, effective content strategies, and strong attendee engagement throughout the event lifecycle.

Attendee expectations are another important theme. Professional development and networking opportunities were identified as the leading reasons for attending B2B conferences, followed by discovering new products, solutions, and technologies. The report shows why event organisers need to combine useful content, meaningful connections, and opportunities for professional growth.

The guide then examines event spending and budget priorities. Event expenditure remains a high or essential priority for most organisations, and many plan to increase their event programme budgets in 2026. Investment in enhancing event experiences, expanding event scale, and improving technology is being balanced against rising travel, accommodation, venue, and operating costs.

Technology selection is increasingly influenced by more than features and pricing. Customer support, brand reliability, ease of use, reporting and analytics, and all-in-one platform capabilities are among the key factors shaping purchasing decisions. The report also highlights strong interest in emerging event technologies, including AI, hybrid event platforms, immersive experiences, and advanced event infrastructure.

Artificial intelligence receives dedicated attention throughout the report. The research indicates that 82% of organisations are using AI to plan, design, manage, or market their events. Common applications include event content, attendee experience, logistics, and reporting. Organisations are also planning to increase AI budgets for 2026, reflecting growing interest in automation, personalisation, and data-driven decision-making.

The report also examines the limitations of AI in event management. Security concerns, lack of confidence in AI capabilities, and difficulty using AI tools remain barriers for some organisations. Human judgment continues to play an important role in managing emergencies, building authentic relationships, creating immersive experiences, and responding to unexpected situations at live events.

Sustainability has become an important part of event planning across Asia. Many organisations have established sustainability targets, and event professionals are increasingly willing to track the carbon footprint of events and attendees. The report highlights practices such as reducing single-use plastics, minimising waste, replacing printed materials with digital alternatives, sourcing food responsibly, and reducing travel and energy emissions.

Accessibility is another growing priority. Organisations are introducing measures such as accessible venues, virtual and hybrid participation options, captioned content, screen-reader compatible platforms, clear signage, sensory-friendly environments, and accessible transportation. These initiatives are helping event planners create more inclusive experiences for attendees with different needs.

The report concludes by highlighting how event professionals can prepare for a more technology-enabled and experience-focused future. Successful event programmes will need to balance growth with cost management, reliable technology with innovation, and operational efficiency with meaningful attendee experiences.

This report is designed for event planners, marketing leaders, corporate event teams, conference organisers, technology decision-makers, venue and production professionals, and organisations responsible for planning and delivering business events across Asia.
